The 19-year-old woman who brought the world the popular phrase "eyebrows on fleek" has found a new way to profit from her creativity in the form of a company of her own. Kayla Newman a.k.a. Peaches Monroee has finally unveiled On Fleek Extensions by Peaches Monroee, a business endeavor and collaboration with her mother, Denise.
This past February, Kayla launched a GoFundMe page to raise money for a cosmetics line. Evidently, those donations were an investment in the development of On Fleek Extensions. The hairline brand sells a variety of top quality products including wigs, sew-in extensions, clip-in extensions, tape-in extensions, closures, and frontals in styles that range from "body wave, deep wave, loose wave, kinky curly, silky straight, and afro kinky" at affordable prices. The store also carries a variety of "false" lashes, edge control and other bundles.
Kayla made the following statement in an email to The FADER:
Even though I should've been did this milestone years ago, timing is everything. I feel like this is the time for me to shine, prosper, and show the world my business side. I am very much grateful for the support people have been showing me. It's not about who is still saying "Fleek," it's about me making my own business out of it. Now it's time for the world to get on fleek by me. Hahaha!
In a previous interview, Kayla told The FADER why inclusivity is an important part of her Atlanta-based brand. "I want to make sure my brand is multicultural, because like I mentioned earlier, I could never find the right foundation for me," she said. "So I wanna make sure it's multicultural, to all people. The LGBT community—I want to make sure they're able to wear my makeup, my hair, and feel good about it. Like I said, there’s nothing like when it comes from the originator."
