On the corner of Spring Street in NYC, a Glossier ad hangs featuring Instagram icon, Nike collaborator, writer, and model Paloma Elsesser. In the large advertisement of Glossier’s new oil-based body wash and lotion Body Hero, Elsesser is naked and sitting hunched over, showing off her naturally flawless face and body.
In an Instagram post on Thursday, Elsesser shared the anxiety she had about doing her first nude shoot. “Look, I've never done nude before,” she wrote. “I cried 3 times before this shoot. I cried because I still feel scared, paralyzed by insecurity at times, and exhausted by an unfettered vulnerability that I want to present to the world.”
Elsesser recently did a collaboration with Nike to redesign the Nike Cortez and modeled for their plus size line. She currently has 93,000 followers on Instagram and is represented by Muse Models NYC.
Elsesser’s image for Glossier is a beautiful testament to promoting beauty of all body types. “I did this to show that being fat isn't a burden,” Elsesser wrote. “Being fat isn't ugly or shameful. To prove to one person that it isn't BRAVE to be fat, but bountiful.”
