Chance The Rapper made a surprise appearance during the Emmy Awards on Sunday night, showing up during the show's intro during a musical number performed by the show's host Stephen Colbert. Over a drumbeat, Chance rapped, "I love television, it's a pleasant distraction/ but imagine taking some action." He professed his love for cop comedy Brooklyn 99 and then posed the question “where’s the cop show where one gets convicted?” He gave a shout out to MASH and then gave a quiet endorsement to trans military service by shouting out Laverne Cox. He finished his verse by calling all those watching to show up to a protest.
