Pharrell gave a powerful speech at this year's VH1 Hip-Hop Honors. The clip, which is streaming in full below, saw the artist speak on the current political climate, calling on people to pay attention to what is going on in the world and not stand for injustice.
“Everybody at home right now watching this, and acting like y'all don’t see what’s going on out there," he said. "Y'all got to open your eyes. Open your eyes. You keep saying you don’t see what’s going on on television, what’s happening to us. Open your eyes. And if you look like I look, then you know how we got here. But we’re here, and we’re not leaving. So what are we going to do?”
Elsewhere at the VH1 Hip Hop Honors Missy Elliott killed it, Teyana Taylor styled out a broken foot, and Mariah Carey performed "Honey" on a jet ski.
