French Montana's 2013 debut album Excuse My French was almost produced by J. Cole, Montana revealed during a new interview with MONTREALITY.
Cole offered to produce the record (which eventually enlisted Diddy, Rick Ross and Harve Pierre) when he toured with Montana during Drake's 2012 Club Paradise run. "He called me one day and he was like, 'Yo French, I would love to help you with the album and executive produce it.'"
In the end, the arrangement did not pan out thanks to timing. "I felt like, he's a producer, one of the best out of our generation, so the time just wasn't right," Montana said. "He was moving, I was moving. Things like that need time."
