Oakland rapper Kamaiyah has dropped her new mixtape. Stream Before I Wake via Soundcloud below. The 10-track project is the first full-length release from Kamaiyah since she put out her debut mixtape, A Good Night In The Ghetto, in 2016.
Writing on Instagram, Kamaiyah explained a little of the tough time she has had in making the new mixtape and suggested she has made the project independent of her label, Interscope. Neither of the two singles she has put out this year, "Successful" and "Build You Up," feature on the tape.

"This past year has been extremely hard for me," she wrote. "I lost my brother to cancer and went through extreme depression. Creatively I felt trapped with my project being held up due to samples. I lost my way and decided to take initiative by recording and putting together music for my fans all on my own because I felt it was time. Thank you for everyone who has been patient, this is only the beginning."
