After Judge Genece Brinkley denied Meek Mill's request for an emergency bail hearing on Monday, the rapper's lawyers have filed an additional appeal for the recusal of Judge Brinkley from the appeal case, citing an FBI investigation that dates back to 2016, according to court documents provided to The FADER. The supplementary document also says that Meek Mill and his lawyers have been aware of the FBI's investigation since 2016.
"The existence of a federal investigation involving Judge Brinkley’s conduct regarding Mr. Williams, combined with Judge Brinkley’s awareness of that investigation, raises further doubt as to her ability to preside impartially, and thus is an additional factor supporting recusal," the document reads.
In November, Page Six reported that the FBI was investigating Judge Brinkley's relationship with Charlie Mack, who served as Meek Mill's manager prior to the rapper signing a management deal with Roc Nation in 2012, and a "possible extortionate demand" that she made of Meek Mill.
Representatives for Meek Mill and The Philadelphia Courts were not immediately available for comment.
