Last year Donald Glover revealed that he intends the next Childish Gambino album to be his last under the name. Earlier this month, however, he signed a new record deal suggesting that all may not have been as it seemed.
That rumor was put to bed at the Grammys on Sunday night, however, with Glover telling the press that he's working on new music but he still intends it to be the end of a chapter.
“I stand by that," he said of the retirement claim. "I’m really appreciative of this. I’m making another project right now,” he said. “But I like endings, I think they’re important to progress.”
He continued, “I think if a lot of things had death clauses in them, we wouldn’t have a lot of problems in the world, to be honest. I think ending are good because they force things to get better.”
Glover picked up the Grammys for best traditional R&B performance for “Redbone” at last night's ceremony. He also performed “Terrified” alongside his Lion King co-star J.D. McCrary during the show.
