Childish Gambino's new song "This Is America" will debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, according to Chart Data. The track was released on May 6, the same day Donald Glover hosted and performed on Saturday Night Live.
"This Is America" has amassed over 109 million views since its release and stoked debate over its use of jarring symbolism involving gun violence and dancing. The video's director Hiro Murai discussed the video's creation and inspirations in a recent interview with The New York Times.
Glover's previous best Billbaord ranking came with "Redbone," a song from the third Childish Gambino album Awaken, My Love! which peaked at No. 12 on the Hot 100.
The final Childish Gambino album will be released this year ("This Is America" is not an official single from the project). Rae Sremmurd and Vince Staples will join Childish Gambino on tour.
