Lakeith Stanfield's new movie with Tessa Thompson and Armie Hammer Sorry To Bother You is due out in theaters everywhere next month. But recently, the actor caught some heat for one of his raps, which he often posts on social media. In the since deleted “offensive freestyle,” Stanfield rapped a number of [] lyrics, including “fag, I don’t really like to brag, but I’m straight, rich."
Now, Stanfield is apologizing for the post, saying that the rap was written from the perspective of a different character. “I've never been homophobic. Have never agreed with homophobic thought or hatred toward anyone for that matter," he said in a video posted on Twitter. "I apologize if I hurt anybody, sincerely. That wasn’t my intention."
