As the pleasure centers of my brain get progressively more deep-fried so as to resemble chicken nuggets, the search for something that makes me actually laugh out loud can be a difficult one. My dopamine receptors were in luck last week when a coworker posted the above video in The FADER's Slack channel. I instantly fell in love with the slim silver alien and its dancing, especially paired with the sci-fi synths of the opening to Lil Uzi Vert's "Money Longer." It's got all the elements of a great shitpost: stupid images, random tossed-off thoughts, and not a hint of direction or structure to its humor.
Over the weekend more and more videos started popping up on my TL, and I learned that the memers had called the creature "Howard The Alien." In the interest of science, I pursued this new form of life across the internet and collected his most fascinating appearances. The meme's getting pretty popular, and if Drake isn't careful, another, much older rap song could replace "In My Feelings" as next week's top-charting meme-powered song.
