New York's primary election was underway on Thursday when a late-breaking endorsement from Cardi B came into play. The democratic gubernatorial race is between incumbent Andrew Cuomo, who is seeking reelection for a third term, and the progressive newcomer and former Sex In The City actress Cynthia Nixon, who won Cardi's allegiance.
On Thursday afternoon, Cardi B publicly endorsed Nixon, urging fans to go out and vote for her via Instagram. "Polls close around 8PM. NEW YORKERS VOTE NOW!!!!! #Cynthia," Cardi wrote, along with a photo of Nixon. She also tagged #jumaane for Lieutenant Governor candidate Jumaane Williams.
On Wednesday night, Nicki Minaj endorsed current Governor Andrew Cuomo on Twitter.
