Jay-Z's entertainment company Roc Nation will executive produce a TV series based on Malorie Blackman's young adult novel Noughts & Crosses, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Roc Nation will reportedly handle the soundtrack to the show, which is being made by the BBC in the U.K.
Blackman's novel is set in an alternative world where "the dark-skinned ruling class of the Crosses looks down on the white Noughts." The series is in pre-production and casting is currently underway. The two main characters, Sephy and Callum, face the challenge of their relationship growing ever more complicated as they come of age in a divided society.
Roc Nation's launched its TV division in May of this year. Its recent TV and film projects include Time: The Kalief Browder Story and Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story.
