Atlanta DJ and producer Speakerfoxxx has died

Her management confirmed the news to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Sunday.

Speakerfoxxx has died, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution confirmed on Sunday. Further details of the DJ and producer's passing are unknown at the moment. In a statement to The Fader, manager Xen Lang said that "she was an inspiration to all, through her passion, her ongoing support for ATL music and underground culture. She touched many with her dedication, upbeat attitude and excellent music taste. No one was more passionate about their craft, culture and city."

Born Christen Nilan, Speakerfoxxx was a fixture in the Atlanta music community. A touring DJ for the likes of Yelawolf, Rittz and Three 6 Mafia's Gangsta Boo, Nilan's solo career took off in 2011 with her mixtape Dopeboy Anthems and its follow-up Dopegirl Anthems. In 2016, her and BOSCO teamed up for a collaborative project Girls In The Yard.

When word of her death began circulating via Twitter on Saturday night, an overwhelming number of friends and colleagues took to the platform to voice their grief and share memories, including Suga Knight, KITTENS, Zachary Fox, and Mereba. BOSCO also announced that she would throw a "legendary concert" in celebration of her friend's life, calling her "the true QUEEN of ATLANTA." Read some of their statements below.
