In a Wednesday Instagram post, Katie Crutchfield a.k.a. Waxahatchee announced a 2022 North American tour starting in January. The Birmingham-born singer-songwriter broke into indie-folk fame with her third album, 2015's Ivy Tripp. Out in the Storm (2017) and Saint Cloud, which dropped two weeks after COVID-19 lockdowns began in the United States, both received critical acclaim and charted in the Billboard US Folk Top 10.
Crutchfield wrapped up a fall tour in October, her first as a headliner since Saint Cloud's release. The first leg of her upcoming trip will begin in Rivera, Mexico on January 17 at Wilco's Sky Blue Sky festival and end February 20 at Chicago's Thalia Hall. She's also announced five additional dates from April to June. Madi Diaz will open all her shows from February 4–April 11, and she'll be playing with Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit at Colorado's Red Rocks on May 3.
