Rico Nasty has had the kind of week that would deflate most artists. Her opening sets on Playboi Carti's Narcissicist tour have been beset by rude and violent crowds but in every instance, she hasn't shied away from direct confrontation. Perhaps that's unsurprising for a rapper with such genuine and potent aggression in her music, but it's been heartening to see nonetheless. Those same vibes are present in Rico's latest single "Money," a collaboration with Flo Milli, out now.
The new track features a guitar-driven interpolation of "We Want Some P***," the 1986 track from the Miami bass troublemakers 2 Live Crew. But instead of sex, the song's animating feature is financial independence and getting there by any means necessary. Roxana, the director behind Rico and Doja Cat's hit "Tia Tamera," adopts an anything-goes aesthetic for the video: it's an infomercial, a Wizard of Oz tribute, and a rager in the clouds all at once with eye-catching costumes to spare.
