Kenny Beats has shared his debut solo album, a largely instrumental project recorded after learning that his father had been diagnosed with cancer. Press materials for the album state that Benny Sings, Dijon, Fousheé, JPEGMAFIA, Mac DeMarco, Pink Siifu, Omar Apollo, Paris Texas, Remi Wolf, slowthai, Thundercat, and Vince Staples are among the contributors.
News of Louie was first announced last week. “I always said that I wouldn’t do a solo album because I didn’t have anything to say. Finally, I did,” Kenny said in a statement. “Something dark turned into something beautiful. This album encapsulated the feeling of that one month.”
The album will be available on vinyl and CD from January 27. Pre-orders for a limited pink vinyl, available exclusively on Kenny Beats’ Discord, and a deluxe LP and book boxset with alternate artwork, are available now.
