The FADER Interview: Jayda G on observing crowds at the club vs. animals in nature
The environmental scientist turned internationally celebrated DJ compares her fields of expertise.
Jayda G is this week’s guest on The FADER Interview podcast. In advance of her new album Guy’s release last Friday (June 9), she joined Arielle Lana LeJarde for a wide-ranging conversation on mix curation, vulnerability, and family. During their interview, they also touched on the Canadian producer’s past life as an environmental scientist.
When asked about the relative difficulty of observing animals in their natural setting to observing revelers at the club, Jayda pauses. “I would have to say people are harder,’ she says. “Even if you’re just watching a pigeon or something, there’s definitely a calmness to it all, where being in a club is definitely anything but calm, but it’s also very exhilarating and a different type of energetic feel. They’re completely different, observing animals and humans, but in a lot of ways, they’re really similar.”
