Future Islands have shared a new song titled "Deep In The Night." The band's first new material since their 2020 album As Long as You Are is a thankful yet melancholy ballad in which vocalist Samuel T. Herring sings about giving himself over entirely his partner. "When you take my hand — I understand / Where you end — and that's where I began," he sings over a moody synth backdrop.
"Deep In The Night" comes with a black and white video capturing a live performance by the band that sits nicely with the song's contemplative vibe. Check that out below.
Later this month Future Islands will headline U.K. festival End of The Road, as well as opening for Noel Gallagher in Manchester. Herring will also be seen in the new Apple TV series The Changeling, starring opposite Lakeith Stanfield. He plays William Wheeler, a man who befriends Stanfield's character Apollo in a quest to win back his wife and children.
