Diplo accused of distributing revenge porn
A report made to the Los Angeles Police Department was filed against the producer and DJ.
Diplo is the subject of a report filed with the Los Angeles Police Department accusing him of distributing revenge porn, Pitchfork reports. Shelly Auguste claims the musician, real name Wesley Pentz, shared nude images of her without her consent. The LAPD has given the report to LA County’s District Attorney, where it is currently under review.
Bryan Freedman, Diplo's attorney, did not immediately respond to The FADER’s request for comment. Auguste accused Diplo of a similar charge in 2020, something he denied at the time through Freedman. .
"Unfortunately, this individual has been harassing my client and his family for more than a year and has repeatedly refused to stop doing so. To be clear, in no way has my client violated any law. In fact, he has repeatedly made it clear that he wants nothing whatsoever to do with this person - and simply needs her ongoing harassment of his family to end," Freedman said when the original accusations were made.
Auguste is currently suing Diplo for sexual battery, gender violence, intentional intrusion into private affairs, battery, assault, defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and fraud, alongside violation of the Ralph Civil Rights Act and violation of the Tom Bane Civil Rights Act. A civil trial is due to begin in April 2024.
Diplo is also suing Auguste for stalking, trespassing, and distributing private materials. In January 2021, Diplo and Auguste signed a dual restraining order agreement to not to disparage each other, according to Pitchfork.
A second woman filed a lawsuit against Diplo in 2021, but withdrew the suit later that year.
