Justin Timberlake has revealed a new solo single called “Selfish.” The song will appear on Timberlake’s upcoming solo album Everything I Thought It Was, scheduled for release on March 15. A video for “Selfish” can be seen below.
Speaking to Apple Music, Timberlake said the album title was inspired by feedback he received when people close to him heard it for the first time. “I was playing it for people around me,” he reacalled. “They’re like, ‘Oh, this sounds like everything we know you for.’ And then another friend of mine was like, ‘Oh, this sounds like everything I thought I wanted from you.’ It was like that sort of phrase, in one way or another, was in the air.”
Everything I Thought It Was is Timberlake’s first album since his 2018 project Man Of The Woods. The name of the album was revealed last week in a cinematic trailer narrated by actor Benicio Del Toro. This weekend, Timberlake will be the musical guest on Saturday Night Live alongside host Dakota Johnson.
