In 1997, Deftones released their sophomore album, Around the Fur. Its second single, the cathartic “Be Quiet And Drive (Far Away),” quickly became one of the legendary alt-metal group’s most popular and iconic tracks. Today, Los Angeles alt-industrial trio HEALTH have shared their spin on the song.
Released as part of the Spotify Singles series and leading off the newly dropped Valentine’s Day edition of the platform’s ALLURE playlist, HEALTH’s “Be Quiet And Drive” reconfigures the track within the band’s ethereally apocalyptic palette, with Jake Duzsik’s Auto-Tuned falsetto and reverbed lead guitar replacing Chino Moreno’s clenched tenor vocals and Steph Carpenter’s fuzzed-out power chords.
