Every week resident FADER selector Eddie STATS runs through dancehall riddims and other artifacts from the ghetto archipelago.
So after I beat people over the head about Mavado last week, I was in turn head-beaten by several dancehall insiders who rightly pointed out that even though the Good Life riddim was indeed built by Serani and crew, the production credit officially belongs to Livity of Live Up records, not Daseca. The last thing I want to do with this Ghetto palmcast is deny cultural workers their propers, so consider the record officially straightened as of now. I don’t really know whether Livity is a ghostwriter type producer, or a "House of Dre"-style executive producer, but personally, I am all for giving the chief exec recognition for what happens on their watch.
And now just to start some new controversy, I am going to run through another new-ish extra tough riddim which is from the Assassin-affiliated Boardhouse Crew, which was actually sent to me by the Brooklyn-based Livity Movements soundsystem. To my knowledge, they do not have anything to do with the other Livity, but if I’m wrong I’m sure somebody will jump on me about it — tune in next week.

In other bashment news, I have noticed a definite trend towards uplifting Club Nouveau-ish dancehall since my Laden column, probably because "Time to Shine" became the forwardest tune of early '09 in the meantime. Exhibits A-C follow, from D’Angel, newcomer Wasp, and Laden himself.
Loosies:
D’Angel, “Where Are They Now”
