It should be obvious by now that Woods are the architects and contemporaries of an entire scene of still-blooming music. The Woodsist label is responsible for some of the better rock releases of the last couple years, and the band consistently walks the line between improvisational noise freakouts and songs like the new "I'm Not Gone," which might be their most composed, subdued song yet—It also sounds like they recorded it in one take on a porch. Not too many bands can pull that off. Just saying.
