The title track on Young Gully's latest is about the only song on the whole mixtape that sounds specifically like it's coming from East Oakland. Over a super sonar-ray of hyphy's signature bass throb, Gully raps almost from beginning to end without taking a single breath, like he's speeding his donk through every yellow light. (Guess that's the definition of gas?) The rest of the tape has a slight ATL slant, but not so much that Gully doesn't sound like he's repping tough for his city—it's just a different approach from a likable rapper who doesn't have to hew to one style to be dope. Bonus: cameos from San Quinn, D-Lo, J-Stalin and Yung Moses.
