Without Duck Down Records' star players, Boot Camp Clik, the '90s would have been woefully devoid of gritty videos featuring Brooklyn rooftops, black hooded sweatshirts and Timbs, LARGE POSSES OF DUDES, and the occasional fire in an oil barrel. They're absolutely still worth watching, some of the best videos of the era—which is to say, they would be nothing without the music: classic lyrics, timeless beats, and a really special vibe specific to the time and place. But Duck Down is still going strong in its 15th year, so tomorrow (Tuesday the 13th) the label will celebrate its anniversary at an all ages show in New York City. Boot Camp will team up again with the beatmaster DJ Evil Dee, along with a host of other performers, an MC battle, a headlining performance by Pharoahe Monch and superstar hosts Angela Yee and Amanda Diva. Check the flyer for more details, and buy this DVD because it is awesome.
