There's a certain rough-edged, shambling sound that Walkmen have perfected over the years. A calmer version of the spittle and fury soaked "The Rat." Like after they got all their rage out with that song, all that was left was existential disappointment in themselves and everything around them. It comes across in "Stranded" in the form of wobbly horns and exhausted vocals, and is the sound of a band that's found their place in music, and that place is just slightly on the other side of scrappy youth—getting older and being comfortable with being uncomfortable.
