Doug Paisley sorta doesn't exist right now. In terms of matter and being, yeah, he's alive in 2010, but in gooey terms of soul and belonging, dude is in perpetual 1971. A frequent collaborator of Will Oldham (and, as far as we can tell, no relation to Brad Paisley), his upcoming second album, Constant Companion, is filled with countrified Fleetwood Mac gold dust, steel pedal folk with an easy strum and an old man's softened bravado. "What I Saw" is a simple, wonderful tune, with help from fellow Canadian, Leslie Feist, taken from Constant Companion.
