The Walkmen are so good at making stuff we're tired of seem awesome and/or romantic again. And what we are tired of is snow. Or so we thought, except when we hear the lyrics there's no light like snow light, and The Walkmen are standing in the desolate cold things suddenly seem a little warmer. It probably helps that this song is called "While I Shovel Snow," which implies owning a house with an area that has snow that needs to be shoveled, which further implies responsibility and adulthood, which the band talked quite a bit about in our feature in FADER #69. The Walkmen have always been good at making real adult life—even the parts with necessary escape and finding comfort in drinking—seem romantic, which just about no other band is able to do. (via P4K)
