We never really thought about the piano at the end of Kurt Vile’s lovely, lovely “Jesus Fever” until we saw the city of Philadelphia projected on his guitar. It’s such a staggering conclusion to the song, a nearly minute-long finale featuring at least three soloing guitars, characteristically complicated but never overwhelming, and somehow we always missed it. But watching Vile impossibly perform the song alone really brings out the finer parts. He's a big-haired man-prism, and somehow by focusing on him everything around becomes clearer.
