Charlotte Gainsbourg is really good at walking with her head down, like the way you do when it's misting out. It serves her well on the cover of her Beck-produced, two-song Terrible Angels EP and halfway through the title track's Nathalie Canguilhem-directed video. Which isn't to disparage her singing chops (or lithe dance abilities, which are fine display as well), but as evidence of Gainsbourg's demure, perpetually down-beaten reserve that makes even her choreographed dance scenes always a little sad. The EP comes out September 6th, and a double-LP of live and unreleased material, entitled Stage Whisper, arrives this November.
