Cymbals’ "No Bad Decisions," like many of their songs and finely exemplary of their whole emotional deal, combines the stiff weirdness of Talking Heads with the melodic precision of a Vampire Weekend riff. The song's the opposite of a nervous stutter or mumble, instead balling up anxious energy and letting it out in bursts of muted guitar and clipped vocals. Which makes the refrain after the song's seeming fade-out at 3:20 such a release, a time to stomach fear for a minute, stop pumping thoughts out as words and dance. Cymbals new album, Sideways, Sometimes, comes out April 23rd via Tough Love.
