2 Chainz was arrested in the Delta terminal at LaGuardia airport in Queens, New York this afternoon. Cops say he was charged with misdemeanor possession of a criminal weapon and taken into custody after the TSA found brass knuckles in his bag. Big Sean says that the alleged brass knuckles were actually a four-finger ring, and a rep tells TMZ that the rapper's team is "handling the situation."
Update 5/22/2012: 2 Chainz wore a four-finger ring, seen here, last Sunday at an afterparty for Drake's Club Paradise tour appearance in Atlanta. He remains in police custody.
Update 5/23/2012: Late last night, after spending 8 to 9 hours in jail, 2 Chainz spoke with MTV about his arrest:
They tried to assassinate my character, they tried to assassinate my swag. It was just a negative dilemma earlier where someone misconstrued a piece of jewelry for a weapon…I couldn't believe it. Me just trying to explain it was getting too frustrating, me just trying to explain my occupation and then when they finally got to the jail and everybody knew who I was, then they started calling their kids and putting me on the phone with their kids. It was like a weird experience... I don't find [getting locked up] intriguing. You're supposed to make your mistakes during adolescence and use these times right here to kinda fix some of the things you did in the past, so with me I'm doing Respect My Vote, I'm doing all kind of things to try to have some positive news.
2 Chainz says his four-finger ring was confiscated, and that he eventually plead guilty to a lesser, unspecified charge. Departing the New York area by private jet for a show in North Carolina, he said, "[The police] definitely didn't sort it out."
