Some days, it feels like the lane Roc Marciano has carved for himself is the best lane in rap. It's not bombastic, just perpetually menacing and eerily calm. Reloaded unfurls slowly, Marciano's husky baritone is alternately too cool, or too weary, but it's always appealing. Listening to the record, it's clear that he's nailed meat and potatoes rap. He's not reinventing the wheel, but he sounds pretty awesome rapping about Clarks, pyramids and hills of cocaine over blunted basslines and smokey keys. Reloaded is out now, and you might as well take it in immediately because Marciano apparently has a bunch more albums already done and ready to go.
