Richmond, California rapper and producer Iamsu! hasn't dropped out of college yet, but he had to switch to online courses after his classmates started recognizing him. Su found success last year with "Up!," the hypnotic, foulmouthed track he wrote the hook for and rapped on, until 50 Cent displaced him on the censored-for-radio remix. Since then, he's made music his job, releasing two excellent solo tapes this year. He stopped by FADER recently to talk, with 'hella's between most words, about how kids in the Bay look back on the Hyphy movement, learning to make beats at Oakland's Youth Radio and the risks of relying on Google Translate.
