For her new single "Heartbreaker," British soul singer Alice Russell scored a remix from FaltyDL, the New York producer whose fancily-percussive, often 2-step-influenced sound usually garners suggestions he's some kind of emissary of UK dance (an implication of outsiderness which, years into his career, we should probably all abandon and accept him as a gifted, proper American producer and let him just where he's from, anyway). His version features lovely shuffles, a great reframing of Russell's classic voice, and an intriguing bass effect—when notes overlap, it sounds like a cross between a fart and hitting a pothole. The single's out now, also featuring a Yakine remix and acoustic version.
