Oneohtrix Point Never just dropped the first single from his new album, R Plus Seven, which is out September 30th/October 1st via Warp. Not all that surprisingly, it opens with a big, majestic arpeggio, but in its contrapuntal bursts of speech and cheesy trumpet sounds, it's got an aleatoric quality that feels more in line with his live set than ever. Says Dan Lopatin of the track, “I wanted to characterize a linear world with cracks in its edifice. One with a veneer of being breakable, but that instead just bends and stretches endlessly like rubber, preventing you from ever understanding its true properties. The proverbial ‘endless vista,' but with an end.” Stream "Problem Areas" below, or head over to PointNever.com to experience it as part of a site-specific art work (no pun intended) courtesy of the artist Takeshi Murata.
