To be honest, no matter how hard Roc Nation tried, I was not sold on Rita Ora, and nothing she had released prior to today felt special enough to make me understand who she was and why I should spend the time to pay attention. But the power of a really perfect pop song is that it can make you forget all your previous assumptions and enjoy the moment based purely on the level of sonic joy—that's how good "I Will Never Let You Down" is, a bubblegum pop song that is the first single from an upcoming new album and is surely worthy of radio play and addictive enough for the repeat button on my iTunes. I wouldn't say me and Rita are BFFs yet, but this feels, at least, like the rare chance at a second first impression.
