Well, this is insane: the first new music from Brooklyn power electronics artist Pharmakon since last year's wonderfully overwhelming debut album, Abandon, is a cover of the 1960s camp classic, "Bang Bang," originally by Nancy Sinatra. And actually, she's kept much of it intact: her vocals are respectfully breathy and hushed, and the layering of her signature mechanical sounds, including some terrifying gun shots, are relatively subtle for Pharmakon, making her vocals sound like they come from a cyborg version of Marilyn Monroe trying to blend in to its human surroundings. "Bang Bang" will be on a Sacred Bones Record Store Day compilation, with a one-time pressing of 1,500 copies.
