FADER PREMIERE
There isn't much information out there on Addis Ababa-born beatsmith Mikael Seifu just yet, but I do know that somewhere along his timeline he studied music production at New Jersey's Ramapo College, and that he describes his sound as a mix of Ethiopian folk, UK garage, and his own idiosyncratic strain of "Ethiopian electronic" music. "Yarada Lij" is the title track of a four-track EP he has coming out on brand new, Washington DC-based record label 1432 R, focusing a loose, dreamy palette of rhythmic and textural figures with some positively heartstring-pulling, pentatonic saxophone and flute melisma. The release is out on July 1st, but it's available for pre-order here.
