Springtime release parties are the vibiest. To celebrate our April/May Photo Issue, we filed into Lower Manhattan’s Gilded Lily, a gold and glittery basement lounge with a massive, chameleon chandelier that sluggishly changed colors. It was a scene straight out of our softly-lit, iridescent daydreams. Budweiser quenched our thirst from the get-go while featured essayist Tim DeWit aka Dutch E. Germ got us moving with a perfectly out-there DJ set (with a little help from Eric Copeland). Later, city kid cover stars Ratking impressed with a rowdy live set of their signature noisy rap, hitting us hard with some songs from their recently-released debut, So It Goes, and inciting a mosh pit. As things started winding down, we took a big gulp of Bud and kept dancing—right until the very end.
