Does it really matter what type of beat you give to Raekwon? Nope. On his #tbt grind this week, he reaches back to the early 1980s track "They Long To Be (Close To You)" by Gwen Guthrie to lay down some funky rhymes. But after name dropping Dikembe Mutomo and his daughter amidst a chorus of gunfire, the Chef ducks out for the rest of the track allowing the sample to ride clean. Of course it'd be nice to have another verse, but the sun-soaked funk of the original record is hard to deny when the weather is still screaming summer even after Labor Day.
