Listen To Ricky Eat Acid’s Remix Of Yumi Zouma’s “Alena”
Is this Ricky’s best remix yet?
Sam Ray, aka Ricky Eat Acid, does a lot of remixes. How does the dude keep things fresh? Even he admits that when he was first asked to turn out an edit of "Alena," by New Zealand dream pop crew Yumi Zouma, he felt momentarily uninspired. "I got asked if I'd do this remix the week after close to a month of traveling," Ray says over email. "Once I actually got home, I couldn't get anything done at all and fell into this admittedly very melodramatic mood of 'what if I'm never inspired again?'" But that mood was fleeting, and this sputtering, sparkling rework of "Alena" might be one of his best remixes to date. Yumi Zouma—Air France successors, Lorde tour mates, and admitted "massive Ricky Eat Acid fans"—are psyched on the finished product, too. "[His remix] is cosmic and constantly expanding," the Cascine band says. "It covers so much ground without ever losing the narrative."
