There's still no tracklist for Nicki Minaj's forthcoming album The Pinkprint, but details are starting to trickle out: there's the impressionistic cover art (the origins of which we dove deep into earlier this week), and in an interview with V magazine (accompanied with a shoot snapped by famed photog Mario Testino), Minaj reveals a surprising musical influence: deathless new age mainstay Enya.
"There are two records early in the album where the airiness and the whimsicalness remind me of Enya," Minaj said, "and I sort of crafted it thinking about her and the way her music makes me feel." Sounds wild, yeah, but if you throw on "Pills and Potions", close your eyes, and maybe take a nice stretch in a field of golden wheat—or maybe a nap next to a babbling brook—it almost sounds like "Only Time", right? Right?
In the interview, Minaj also reveals that she's planning to return to TV again, although when it comes to specifics regarding her role, she's keeping mum: "I may [act in it]. You may hear my voice, you may see me. We're not sure as of yet. We're still working on the idea." The answer's just vague enough that I'm gonna go ahead and keep my fingers crossed that she's planning to host the next season of Masterchef Junior.
