NYC funk outfit IGBO have delivered a cosmic introduction to their upcoming summer EP. The chops on "Entrance Theme" recall fusionists like Bob James or Dexter Wansel, but the sound's distinctly young: loose, pulsing keys and rolling drum fills glued in pocket. For the visuals, producer/songwriter BENAMIN and composer SLY5thAVE jump around the woods and raft down the river, and the whole thing feels like a welcomed escape from concrete streets and sounds. IGBO will be releasing an EP on June 9th, and gigging around NYC starting this Friday at Pine Box rock shop in Bushwick.
