Hiatus Kaiyote stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night to perform three songs: two from their impressive Choose Your Weapon album as well as the Grammy-nominated “Nakamarra,” from their debut, Tawk Tomahawk. The group fondly terms their sound, “Multi-Dimensional, Polyrhythmic Gangster Shit,” and watching them live certainly gives you a sense of all the dimensions and rhythms at play, if not necessarily the gangster aspect. On record, lead singer Nai Palm’s voice is often multiplied, but she held down the vocal parts solo last night.
