Earlier this week, Nigerian rapper Davido linked up with Meek Mill for "Fans Mi," a multilingual track that's equal parts hip-hop, afropop, and dancehall-inflected R&B. The song points to the future of African and American creative partnerships, but it wasn't the first time—in fact, it follows a recent trend of translatlantic collaborations. As African artists gain more global appeal, they're increasingly able to afford verses from American rappers.
