Drake Likes This Guy And You Should Too
Is Bryson Tiller Drake’s next co-sign?
Drake's social media promotion game was active in 2014—he famously posted lyrics from Dej Loaf's "Try Me," for example, as well as Father's "Look At Wrist." The young Louisville singer/rapper Bryson Tiller might be next: Drake recently posted a photo of the two artists hanging out with some champagne. Tiller also shared a couple videos of him and Drake listening to If You're Reading This It's Too Late on high volume and called the evening the "best night of my life."
Tiller's track "Don't" recently appeared on FADER's list of "16 Songs You Need In Your Life This Week." It's a fine example of post-Drake R&B: Tiller floats over a swooning beat—light on top, shuddering down low—sing-raps, and repeatedly shouts out "H-Town." Best of all, he interpolates Mariah Carey's classic "Shake It Off." The artist dubs his sound Trap Soul—not to be confused with the Chicago rapper Tree's music, which is called Soul Trap.
Listen to "Don't" below, and check out a couple other photos from the Drake/Tiller hangout, including one where the MC raps along vigorously to his own "6 Man."
