If you missed Sundance back in January, there’s still hope for you: this weekend, the third annual Sundance Next Fest will take place at the Ace Hotel in downtown L.A. This year, music will play an important role in the event, which is slated to include performances from Sky Ferreira, Sharon Van Etten, Neon Indian, and Toro Y Moi. In addition to the live acts, three music videos will be premiered at the festival: Superhumanoid’s “Anxious In Venice” (Friday, August 7, 8 PM), HEALTH’s album trailer for Death Magic (Saturday, August 8, 8 PM), and a Flying Lotus short film entitled FUCKKKYOUUU (Sunday, August 9, 8 PM) which was directed by Eddie Alcazar.
Charlie Reff, who serves as Senior Programmer for the Sundance Film Festival, told FADER in an email, "Music videos are the perfect symbol of the collaboration between the film and music worlds. That crossover is the heart and soul of Sundance NEXT FEST. This event gives a few innovative videos the rare opportunity to premiere on the big screen in front of a massive, film-and-music-loving audience."
