Discwoman is an important endeavor because no one has ever looked at the electronic music scene and thought "needs more men." For nearly a year the record label and roster has promoted DJs and producers who identify as female from around the world, and on September 19 they're celebrating their first birthday at Bushwick's Bossa Nova Civic Club.
